Review

OK, so, when I read the blurb for this book, I thought it sounded ok. Let me tell you, the saying " Never Judge A Book By It's Cover" couldn't be more adapt for this book. In every way. It's like opening a box of cereal and finding its full of your favourite chocolates.

This book has everything you would expect from a great book that captures your attention. Drama, Heartbreak, Friendship, romance, angst. Once I started reading this I couldn't stop. I cant wait for the next one.  There wasn't one bit or character I didn't like. I loved the way Emma wrote this and had different chapters about different friends, it totally worked.

I loved the relationship of all the guys and the way they were with Faith. I cant wait to see what happens next. Its wrote effortlessly. It wasn't what I expected at all, not what I thought it would be like, it was SO much better.

I give this 4/5 stars

“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.”
- Bob Marley

It’s a hot and humid night. We’re all looking forward to a beer and some nightlife as we take the short walk from our hotel to the Coconut Club.
At this time of the year, the island is packed with tourists from all over the world. This means lots of beautiful girls in their tiny bikinis with a tan and a smile and everybody looking to have a good time.
Only ten days into our two week surfing vacation with my friends, I’ve been having the time of my life. We’ve met some great locals who have entrusted us with their secret surfing spots, which they keep on the down-low. These are their places to surf, not to be overrun by tourists.
The surf has been awesome. We’ve ridden alongside the locals, our boards attached to our motorcycles as we follow them through the hustle and bustle of the crazy traffic. I shit you not, it almost appears like there are no road rules over here. It’s like dodge ball with motorcycles. It’s been a hell of a lot of fun taking the bikes to the streets, weaving through the ridiculous traffic, honking our horns—quite the adrenaline ride.
Once we make it out of the shit storm of traffic and get on the quieter roads around the island, we're able to put the pedal to the metal and enjoy the scenery.
Fan-fucking-tastic!
Just don’t fucking crash has been our motto because the hospital service isn’t that great over here. You don’t want to wind up in it.
Since Faith would’ve loved to see some of the places we’ve been to and photograph them, Jase brought his camera and saved some of these memories for her. I can’t help thinking he has an interest in my sister. But Jase is a great guy, so I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
The locals have showed us the clubs and bars to check out. We know they receive commission for pointing us in the direction of certain places, but these guys don’t have the same opportunities we have been given in life, so why not help a guy out?
The food has been awesome. Keanu only got the shits for a few days—we did warn him about the water. We could smell him from across the hallway, making me glad I wasn’t sharing a room with Keanu. Levi got the short straw for those few days.
We’ve sat on the beach at night while Keanu, Levi, and Jase sang and strummed their guitars, entertaining a small crowd that gathered each evening while the sun sets. It's a pretty awesome way to watch the sun go down if you ask me. This has been such a great trip.
After four years of college, we all just graduated and decided to take this trip as a gift to ourselves for summer break. We’ve all got stuff we have applied for or are in the process of locking down when we get home except for Jase, who is the youngest in the group and our friend Harley’s younger brother. He wanted to come along, so this is his vacation before he starts college.
We weren’t stupid; we all knew life was getting more serious and we were entering the next phase. We have our futures ahead of ourselves, yet who knew when we would be able to all get together and do this again? My only regret is Harley couldn’t make the trip.
He is moving ahead with his dream of owning a business—his college years were more about a backup plan. The guy is so smart. He plans way ahead. Out of all of us, he’s got his shit together the most. He landed himself a job that he couldn’t pass up. The boy is thinking big and has always been like that. He sees his future of owning a security business empire like a blueprint in his mind. I know he will make it happen, as well. He’s just that kind of guy.
Fuck, I love all these guys. My friends mean the world to me, and I would do anything for them.
Any-fucking-thing they asked of me.
The guys are all completely different. Well, maybe with the exception of Keanu and Levi. Those two are hilarious without trying and have this bond which glues them together. They have such a bromance going on that they will be friends for life. Nothing will get between them. They are brothers from another mother, through and through. Although, we all get along incredibly well.
Keanu and Levi have been spreading themselves among the ladies, while Retro seems happy enough just surfing, eating, and drinking. He’s got a lady on his mind back home, so he’s just letting his free spirit enjoy the waves and soak up the atmosphere.
I’ve been keeping a subtle eye on Jase; he’s been throwing back a few beers. The chicks love his blonde hair and mismatched blue and brown eyes. At eighteen, he isn’t technically underage here, only back home; as a result, he’s enjoying it while it lasts. I promised Harley, his brother, I would have his back and not let him get too out of control, and so far, he’s only thrown up like the exorcist one night. I think that helped cure him of hitting it too hard for a few more days. The waves are more important than getting totally wasted and not being able to surf anyways.
We enter the Coconut Club and make our way to a high-top table with the stools. This place is starting to fill up. The DJ is playing loud techno, and the club is pumping with bodies on the dance floor moving in sync.
Retro offers to buy the first round and takes off to the bar before it gets too busy and you wind up waiting to be served for ages.
Levi and Keanu are already scouting the club for hot chicks, talking in each other’s ear, being each other’s wingman. The next second, they are both shouting, “Challenge. Accepted!” and bumping fists. I roll my eyes. They do this every night once they have locked down their female prey. The girls are here to party, looking for a good time, and these two aim to please.
The tourists are all in party mode on the island. Inhibitions are left at the door. After what I have seen, I don’t think I will be letting my future daughter ever come on a vacation for summer break until she is at least thirty.
Hell. No.
Jase has already been spotted by a group of girls who are all giggling and pointing at him. I can’t help feeling proud of him. He was somewhat of a geek at school and I suppose Harley and my boys rubbed off on him. Now he’s buff and enjoying the female attention. His blonde hair and striking mismatched eyes make him stand out from the crowd.
We are all a pretty good looking bunch. We look after ourselves, and we hit up a fair bit of extreme sports. It keeps us fit. We aren’t the indoorsy type. We study hard, but we play hard, too.
One day, all this carefree stuff will have to be locked down, but at the moment, we are young and single and generally don’t do anything by halves.
It’s all or nothing.
••O••
We’ve been here for a couple hours now. It’s been a great night of letting loose and jumping about on the dance floor.
“It’s my buy,” I have to shout over the music. I head over to the bar, where the crowd is two people deep all along its length, waiting to be served. This could take a while with only a couple bar tenders serving.
My mind drifts to Faith, my kid sister by eight years. I’m looking forward to seeing her when we get home. I’ve got a week lined up to spend with her and the folks before heading back to San Diego. Today, I bought her a brightly colored sarong, figuring chicks love that sort of thing when they come here. Jase has it packed in his suitcase since I’ve bought quite a bit of souvenirs for family, and my bag is at its weight limit.
I know how much she wanted to come on this vacation with us and loves photography; as a result, I've taken a lot of pictures on my phone to show her.
I bought her a Canon old-school camera when she was nearly eleven, just before we left for college, so she could play about with it. I hoped to keep her busy with a hobby while I was away because I hated leaving her. She hung around with us more than her own friends. Regardless, I loved having her around, and the guys didn’t mind. I knew leaving her was going to leave a hole in her life.
Four years later, she is now nearly fifteen. I think she may have a career as a photographer. She takes awesome photos, and I know she wants a dark room. Our mom and dad have bought her a digital camera for her birthday in just over two months, while I’ve organized for some dark room equipment—the perfect present for Faith. I can’t wait to see her face when we give it all to her. The best of both photography worlds for her to play around with.
Jase clamps one hand on my shoulder and yells in my ear, “Hey, Chance, thought you might like some company while you’re standing up here waiting. I’ll help you bring the beers over. The wingmen are working the beat, and Retro’s gone to take a piss.”
When I look over and see Levi and Keanu dancing all over a couple of girls, I can’t help laughing at them. They certainly love chicks.
“This crowd is sure thirsty.” I smile at Jase. I’ve been standing here awhile already. “The downfall of summer break vacationing.”
Jase is a nice guy. He’s always thinking about others. He’s seen both sides of the school crowd, popular and unpopular. He was bullied for being a geek at school, so he is sensitive to others and thinks of their feelings. Once he started coming out of his shell and growing, his features started to get noticed by the girls. Luckily, Harley was there to help with his self-esteem. He used to take him out back at their home and get him to pound the heavy bag. Afterward, they’d lift weights and go jogging together.
Jase is a much deeper guy than a lot of people realize. We knew. The stupid assholes at his school, on the other hand, were threatened by what they knew he could become. He had smarts, a personality to match, and his looks were starting to shine through. Harley just helped nudge it along with some brotherly advice and some older brother knowledge of what makes a girl’s head turn.
Jase knew what he was capable of and never got a big head. It was like he was waiting for the right girl, someone with smarts he could be attracted to. Jase was always studying or hanging with his geeky friends. You could give him a makeover, but he always stayed true to his friends. He saw people for who they were, not what they looked like. He looked into people’s souls, not just the pretty face. I think someone was counted very lucky if they were friends with Jase.
Jase’s voice invades my thoughts, “So, how’s Faith? Have you spoken to her lately?”
“I texted her earlier, letting her know how we were all doing.”
I decide to wind Jase up a bit. “I let your dad know you’ve been making up for lost time with the beers.” I’m trying to keep a straight face.
“What the fuck, Chance? I told Dad I have been behaving myself. Mom and Dad only let me come on this trip as long as I behaved.”
I’m laughing out loud. Sometimes it’s too easy playing with Jase. The look on his face, priceless. “I’m only joking. I haven’t ratted you out. Harley was a lot wilder than you, anyway. Trust me, you’re a saint compared to what he was getting up to at your age.”
I finally get served, and we haul the beers back to our table where Keanu, Levi, and Retro are waiting. We do a salute with our beers before taking a drink.
It’s now around eleven-thirty, and the crowd is thinning out a little. We’re all feeling pretty relaxed. We have a crack of dawn surf we want to get in, and we need to drive an hour to get to the spot, so we are keeping ourselves on the right side of sober.
Barely.
Keanu and Levi have wandered off somewhere and Retro’s gone for another piss while Jase and I are chilling and talking when, suddenly, there is a bit of commotion in the club. A young Asian guy with a backpack has climbed up onto a table, screaming like a wild man. I can’t understand what he’s saying; he’s not speaking English.
Jase is standing beside me, shouting in my ear, “What the fuck is that guy’s problem?”
I’ve got no idea. He’s still screaming wildly, his face is dripping with sweat, and he keeps wiping his face on his sleeve. He’s angry and agitated with fear in his eyes, and he’s gulping down air.
The young guy, who doesn’t look much older than us, pulls something out of his pocket, holding it above his head, waving it about. I wish I knew what he was yelling about.
Sensing something isn’t right with this guy, the bar's crowd begins trying to move away, making their way towards the entrance.
Seconds have ticked by.
I grab Jase and move him away from the inevitable crush while I search the crowd for Levi, Retro, and Keanu.
I shout over the music, “Fuck! I can’t see where the others are.” I need to know where they are. Right. Now.
It’s only been about twenty seconds since the guy made himself known. I’ve moved us to the other side of the bar, as far away as we can shuffle through the crowd from the crazy guy.
The front entrance is getting a line up as people shove at others. In the few seconds we’ve grabbed, I keep my eyes on him as we move. The kid is positively shaking. Then, his thumb raises and starts to press down on the device in his hand.
Jesus!
I duck, grabbing a girl near me around the waist and shoving both her and Jase behind a table and some chairs. I try to cover them as much as I can, pushing their heads down.
Boom!
There is a loud explosion that rocks our ear drums.
I look up from our crouched position over the table top. Blood has rained down on us. It’s everywhere. Bits of what I can only describe as flesh have landed on the table we are hiding behind. There is a horrid, burnt smell in the air. People are crying out. The girl with us has gotten up and blended into the crowd. Everyone is moving like a herd of scared cattle towards the club entrance.
“Fuck. The guy blew himself up. Fuck.” I’m talking almost to myself. I feel like I’m in a vacuum. I can’t really hear. I can only stare.
I’m stunned by what just happened. A lot of people tried to take cover like we did, yet I can see bodies lying on the ground. Are they dead? There is blood and bits of flesh covering people like a macabre abstract painting. It’s everywhere.
Where are the guys? I shake a stunned Jase, and we get up from our crouched position. The music has been drowned out by the screams and sounds of fear inside the club. I shake my head, my ears continuing to ring.
As people push and shove past us, I take stock of our surroundings. The explosion was enough to blow the kid up and collect anybody within its radius of fallout.
What the fuck. Was this a joke? Is this some staged prank? I’m having trouble believing what I’m seeing.
Jase and I look at each other.
I have to snap out of it.
What the fuck did this guy do?
Why?
What the fuck!
“We need to find the guys and get out of here,” Jase is shouting at me, the fear clearly evident in his voice.
I rub my hand through my hair, dislodging bits of gunk. I don’t want to think about what it is. “Can you see the others?” I’m probably shouting back at him since I can’t hear myself properly.
The rest of the crowd who are still inside the bar have just woken up from their places of stunned disbelief and are frantically trying to help their friends or the person closest to them. They are as desperate as we are to get out of the club and to safety. They know something is wrong. Very, very wrong. This is no longer the happy place it was a few minutes ago.
I herd a group of crying European girls I noticed earlier hanging out together tonight, splattered with blood and other bits, towards the front entrance. “Go!” I tell the one who looks the most with it. “Take your friends and get out of here. Get yourselves some help. Just stick together.”
She nods slowly at me as she pushes her friends out the door.
I look for Jase, finding him grabbing some other girls, getting them to move and telling them not to look back.
But I did.
Carnage is spread out like a horror movie scene. The lighting in the club is a lot dimmer in parts, and broken glass is everywhere, being crunched under foot. Tables and chairs have been turned over, toppled in the panic. There is a bloody mess where the guy had once stood. I try not to look too closely.
Why would a guy do that to himself? It doesn't make sense.
I can only hope the other guys are safe. Where the fuck are they?
As fear fully sets in, the remaining people in the bar are full-blown making a push-and-shove run for it. It's not a good way to get through a narrow doorway. A couple of guys are smashing the glass frontage with bar stools, trying to speed up the evacuation. Everybody wants out.
I’m looking around for a back exit. While there must be one, I can’t see a sign from where I’m standing. When I hear a new wave of terrified screaming and crying, I turn to the front of the club. A blue delivery van has been driven up to where the guys broke the glass front.
“Fuck, what now?” I mumble.
A guy gets out and runs off, leaving the car door open. There are still people trying to escape through the broken windows near the van. If that van has what I think is in it, they won’t stand a chance. This shit is real.
“Fuck. I’m sorry, Faith, Mom, Dad,” I barely hear myself say. I know what’s coming.
I grab Jase and try to get as far from the front of the bar as possible.
I’m sorry, Harley.
Anywhere, but the front.
I throw Jase in front of me, and we push against the crowd. We make some distance, but not enough.
Retro, Levi, and Keanu, please be safe.
Then it happens.

BLOG TOUR - LOCKE (Corps Security #5) BY HARPER SLOAN

Blurb
Darkness is the only thing I see. Ever since the day my life changed. The day that everything and everyone I held close to me ceased to exist. The day I lost it all and the demons of my past consumed my every waking moment.

I tried to keep others at arm’s length. Tried not to let my darkness taint them. Ruin them. Harm them. And whether I want to admit it or not, as much as I wish I could keep them locked out, they refuse to leave. Refuse to let me suffer alone.

If I hadn’t been so focused on keeping those demons from flying free, I wouldn’t have missed how one perfect angel was able to sneak her way under my skin—refusing to let go. Making me want things I don’t deserve.

She consumes me. Her beauty knows no end. The love she promises tempts me every time she’s near. But that pure heart that makes her MY Emmy is the one thing I’m convinced I’ll destroy if I ever let her close.

I’m a broken man. A broken man with too much darkness in his soul to ever let her light shine upon me. But even that doesn’t stop me from craving her with every single breath in my body.

**This is the final book in the Corps Security series. This book is not suitable for younger readers. There is strong language, adult situations, and some violence.*

Prologue—Maddox
Six weeks.  It’s been over a goddamn month since Emmy ran from me.
Just gone.
It took me three days to find her—thanks to the tracking device I had placed on her car—down in some small Podunk town in south Florida.  Even if she had been trying to hide, she’d done a shit job of it.  One search for her parents would have brought me right to her.
It took me longer to actually get eyes on her than it had to find her.  She was holed up in some cheap-ass hotel for three weeks.  She called in her meals and never left the room.  And unfortunately, I had to leave and rush home when things out of my control needed attention and I again had to pull Asher’s head out of his ass.  Now I’m back and I’m not leaving until I get my hands on her.
She doesn’t want to be found.  I know that, but damn if I’m going to let her run off and get away for good.  I’ve pushed and pushed her away.  Every bone in my body has screamed at me to take what she’s been offering for years.  I’ve seen her, I know what she wants, but I won’t let my demons hurt her.  Not my Emmy.
Since day one, she’s been the greatest temptation, but I refused to take everything innocent that is Emmy and let my blackness take her.  Because that’s what will happen.  It will wrap around her soul and slowly choke the life out of her.  Just like every other person I’ve allowed in.
I’ll taint her.  I’ll ruin her.  And in the end, it will destroy her.
One smile from her made me fall.  So I pushed her away.  I told her that she would never be what I need—that I would never want her.  God, if she only knew.  I crave her and everything she keeps trying to hand me.  I crave her and everything she could give me.  My very being calls out to her, and I work daily to refuse it.
So I pushed.
Until she ran.
But that ends right now.
Looking up at the gaudy neon lights thrown on the top of this hellhole, I know that was my first mistake.
SYN.
A motherfucking strip club.
This is not a place where my angel belongs.  Just the thought of her inside this club makes my skin crawl.  I can feel my anger becoming a force of its own as the blackness in my soul threatens to burst through.  It’s burning inside my veins and demanding blood.  My nostrils flare, making my breaths come in loud pants.  My fist clenches—demanding something to pound into, something to destroy.  My skin feels tight.  Every vein in my body is pulsing with each wild beat of my heart.
I’m going to explode.
The bouncer doesn’t even give me a second thought.  He gives me a brief glance as I pay the twenty bucks to gain my access into the hellish place.   I immediately rip my sunglasses off, taking in every inch of the room.  Black walls with dim lighting, stereotypical red carpeting and leather booths lining the room.   They have the name right with the smell of this place—sex and sin with a mixture of smoke and sweat.  There are three stages set up around the room, the center one being the largest and two smaller ones to the left and right, with a bar against the back wall and one on the top floor.
The whole top-floor bar area is set up on a glass floor, giving these douchebags around the room the perfect view between the barely dressed servers’ legs.  Taking my eyes off the top floor, where the bartenders are clearly working the glass floor to their advantage, I scan the room again, squinting my eyes to see through the dim lighting and heavy smoke.
That’s when I spot her.
“What. The. Fuck,” I snarl under my breath.
The anger I felt earlier burning through my body starts to boil.  It’s almost as if my body becomes a force of its own.  The monsters inside me wanting free.
There she stands, not even five feet away, looking exhausted, wearing next to nothing.  Her skirt—if that’s what you want to call it—is more like a napkin someone cut in half.  From the way she stands—slightly to the side—I can just make out the perfect roundness of her ass peeking out the bottom of the hem.  Her pert tits are pushed together and held in a tight bikini top, the fabric so thin that I can see the outline of her nipples clear as day.
My eyes take in every inch of her exposed skin and I want to roar with rage.
No one should see her like this.  No one but me.  And even though I don’t have the right to feel this way about her, there isn’t a damn thing that can stop me now.
She hasn’t seen me yet, so I stalk over to where she’s standing.  She turns right when I’m about to reach out for her and her eyes go wide, shock and alarm clear in her beautiful, honey-brown eyes.
“Wha—”
“What the fuck are you doing, Em?” I bite out.
She shrinks back at my tone before she catches herself and goes stiff.  I can tell instantly that I’m not going to like anything she has to say.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me, Emmy.  What in the hell are you doing in this place?”
She tilts her head slightly, taking me in.  Her eyes leave mine and roam the room before she gives a stiff nod.  When she turns her focus back to me, I go stock-still at her words.
“I’m exactly where I should be, Maddox.  I’m home.”  Her tone is submissive, and that fury inside me goes from a boiling fire to ice cold.
With that, she turns and stalks off towards the bar.  And I see that not only is her ass hanging out, but so are her hot-pink boy shorts.
“Dude.  She’s a fine piece of ass, right?”  The man she was just talking to speaks in awe.
“Shut your fucking mouth,” I growl, feeling that rage return like a switch has been flipped.
“Ah, you’re new here.  Just sit back, my friend, and get ready for the show.”  He laughs, takes a deep pull from his beer, and turns his attention back to the main stage, where the current entertainment is doing her best to swallow the fucking pole with her pussy.  She’s working so hard for it that she might as well be fucking the damn thing.
I’m no stranger to strip clubs.  Back when the guys were all single, we would hit some local ones around California.  No better way to let off some steam from the shit that is constantly swirling around in my head than to sit in a room full of naked woman.  Where the music pounds into your body, the drinks are always flowing, and the pussy is in abundance.
One thing’s for sure: This isn’t a place for Emmy.  Hell no.
Without taking my eyes from Emmy, I drop my body into the nearest booth.  She’s in a heated argument with the bartender and an older man who looks about as run-down as this fucking town.  She throws her hands in the air, her head moving wildly, and if I had to guess, her stunning eyes are burning bright.  She points over to me a few times, and all the older man does is shake his head, obviously not giving her what she wants.  I just scowl at them from the booth, waiting for her to walk her ass back over here so I can explain to her that it’s time to go.
“Hey there, handsome,” a raspy voice says to my right.  “Looking for some fun tonight?  I bet a big man like you would be up for something wild.”
“No.”  I don’t even look at her.  My eyes never leave Emmy—who is now looking at me.  A mix of ire and hurt is written all over her face.  Even with the shit lighting in this place, I can see it…and I hate it.
Fucking hurt?  Is she serious right now?  Pissed I can understand.  She didn’t want to be found and I found her.
“I won’t bite, baby.  That is unless you want me to.”  Her hands snake around my neck and down my chest.
Turning my attention away from Emmy, I look at the bleach-blonde hair, weathered skin, and fake tan of this bitch in front of me.  I’ll give her credit—she tries to hide it with more than enough makeup for about ten women, but this piece of work in front of me has to be pushing fifty.
“I said no, woman.  What part of that didn’t you understand?  And for the last time, do not touch me.”  I reach up and pull her hand off my stomach before she can go any further.
Moving my eyes back to where I last saw Emmy has me coming up empty.  What the hell?  I scan the room but she is still nowhere to be found.
“Ah, sweet cheeks.  I know what you want.  Good luck with that one.  Rose doesn’t play around, and honey, why would you want her when you can have me?  After all, I taught her everything she knows.”  She leans down and, before I can guess her intent, licks my neck, clearly taking my distraction at her words to her advantage.
I turn swiftly and move into her space, making sure she doesn’t mix this shit up in her head to think that I would somehow ever want her ass.
“Do. Not. Touch. Me.  You got that, sweet cheeks?”
She looks me in the eyes for a few beats before throwing her head back and laughing.  The sound of it hits my ears like nails on a chalkboard.
“Your loss.”
When she walks off, I start my scan of the room again.  No Emmy in sight.  I run my hand over my buzzed scalp before settling in for the wait.
Thirty minutes later and I still haven’t found her.  The crowd is getting restless.  The chicks taking turns on the stage now haven’t been impressive and they undoubtedly want more.  The pole humper has moved on to one of the smaller stages.  The last act on the main stage was slightly better, but all she did was basically finger-fuck herself on the stage before fumbling to get to her feet on her ridiculous heels.
Jesus Christ.
I wait, determined not to leave until I have her with me.  Another thirty minutes and two more rotations on the stages have my frustration levels going up even higher.  How the hell did she just disappear?  I know she didn’t leave.  The tracking device on her car, which is sitting right next to my truck in the parking lot, hasn’t alerted me of any movement.  I’ll be damned if she takes off on me again.
After signaling over another server, I order a beer and check my phone again to make sure the tracker isn’t malfunctioning.  I’m just putting my phone in my pocket when a deep voice cuts over the music.
“Gentleman of Syn.  It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for.  The one your dicks have been begging for all fucking night.  The Princess of Syn herself.  The one and only, Rose!”
The Princess of Syn?  What an idiot.  I laugh to myself, placing my beer to my lips for a long pull.  The music starts and the first few notes of Lollipop by Framing Hanley fill the air.  Got to give this chick props—at least she picked a good song.
The house lights go down, plunging the room into darkness, before a spotlight hits the main stage.  The smoke clinging to the air gives the stage an eerie glow.  I take my eyes off the action and attempt scan the darkness of the room again for Emmy.  Movement by the back corner catches my attention at the same time that the crowd goes electric.  Idiots start throwing their money left and right, calling to this Princess of Syn to take them.
What morons.
I focus on the corner again and see the blonde from earlier smiling her wicked smile at me before pointing to the stage.  Turning back to the stage, I watch as a woman, who I assume is this so-called princess, spins effortlessly on the pole, her movements all but blurring her body from the men wishing she were spinning on their dicks.  It doesn’t take me long to see why the bitch from earlier is telling me to look.
With one quick spin, her hands are placed at the center and her legs are spread wide and parallel to the pole, showing off her barely there G-sting, I see my Emmy.  It takes a second for the shock to wear off, and in that second, she gracefully drops from her spin with a guarded smile to the men crowding the stage.  Lifting her small hands from her side, she drags them up her flat stomach to take her tits in hand and jiggles them.
Fucking jiggles them.
I can’t control my body at this point.  I’m focused on one thing—the best way to get her off that stage and out of this place.
She reaches up and, in a move that is obviously practiced, removes her top, throwing it in to the crowd.  There she dances with her body on display, caressing her naked tits until her nipples pebble.  Turning her back to the room, she bends at the waist and starts to slowly pull her G-sting down her long, toned legs.
This is when the reality of this situation hits me.  I’ll fucking kill all of these motherfuckers in the room.
Then she drops to her knees before getting on all fours and crawling towards the end of the stage.
Hell.  No.
I’m on my feet in seconds, stalking through the crowd, pushing any man who stands in the way of my woman and me.  I don’t even lift my arms from my side.  I just barrel through the bodies with one goal in mind.
She doesn’t see me coming since she’s back on her feet and walking to the pole again.  With a leap that would make my high school track coach proud, I’m on the stage, and a second later, I have a naked Emmy thrown over my shoulders before I jump off the stage.  The sharp pain up my leg does nothing to extinguish my determination.
I can see the bouncers coming, and with one hand on her slick ass, I reach out and punch the first one in the face, taking great pleasure watching him instantly buckle to the floor.  The other one comes at me from the side, but he doesn’t get far before I pick up the chair to my left one-handed and crack it against his fucking head.
Emmy is struggling with such vigor that I’m forced to put her down.  She looks up, ready to spit fire at me, before snapping her mouth shut when she sees the expression on my face.  I have no doubt that I look just as feral as I feel.
“Don’t you open that sweet fucking mouth, Emersyn.  I swear to Christ, now is not the time to fucking piss me off any further.”
I rip my shirt off and roughly pull it over her head.  She struggles and puts up a fight, momentarily distracting me from the third bouncer coming at full throttle.  His fist takes me by surprise, but not for long.  Grabbing her wrist so she doesn’t get away, I turn to the motherfucker stupid enough to get in my way.
“You shouldn’t have done that,” I seethe.
He goes to punch me again, but I duck and pop up before he realizes he failed.  Bringing my head forward, I head-butt him right between the eyes and almost smile when he falls instantly.
I’m stopped at the door by the last bartender she was speaking with earlier.  He goes to make a move but pulls up when he sees the look in my eyes.  I’ll fucking kill and I’m sure it’s written clear as day on my face.
“Do it.  I dare you.”  My tone leaves no room for argument.  I’m leaving with her and there isn’t a person on this Earth who can stop me.

My Review

If you haven't read any of  Haper Sloan's Corp's Security books, then don't read any further. I recommend you read these books from Axel book 1. These can be read as stand alone's but I think for you to have The FULL, ALPHA, SEXY, HOTNESS that is Corps Security you need to read from the beginning. This is a series that will blow any other book boyfriend OUT OF THE WATER.

This is no different to any other reviews I've done, there will be no spoilers attached to this review. I will give you a warning though

***** THIS BOOK/SERIES NEEDS ALL OF THE SUPPLIES*****

I LOVED this book. I cant pick a favourite out of the corps guys, BUT Ive got to tell you Locke is the epitome of HOT, SEXY, BADASS, HOT, (DID I SAY THAT ALREADY)ALPHA MALE. I think the Alpha male blueprint was taken from Locke.

I read this in one go. It's impossible to put it down and come back to it. So make sure your not going to be interrupted. I would love this series to be made into either film or TV. I also think I am going to put The males from Corps security on my Christmas list.

This book is amazing. Its exceptionally written. harper has the talented to capture you at the first page so you quickly get lost in the corps world. Although you want to get to that next page you really don't want to get to the end. The story plays out in your mind like a film bright, vivid and in HD Dolby surround sound.

This book gets 5/5 stars and 5/5 for movie moments

About The Author

Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husbands chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero--the super alpha kind!

Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
