Book Blitz - Going Through Hell By T.J.Loveless

Going Thru Hell by T.J. Loveless
Publication date: October 1st 2013
Genres: Fantasy, Mythology, New Adult

Synopsis:
KYLIE RIPPONS is a SpongeBob pajama bottom wearing, Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 driving, USDA certified klutz, coffee-addicted mortal, seeking a normal life despite the constant harassment of gods and the ability to braid time.

Kylie sees actions and consequences as bright, shining timelines in her head. Born with the power to gather the strings and braid them into a new chain of events, she is the weapon of choice for many pantheons in their never ending wars. But using the ability requires fuel, and for a mortal, it means a piece of her soul.

One Mesopotamian goddess, the only forsaken Valkyrie, and a rogue, immortal, Berserker ally with Kylie. Constant harassment forces the group to take drastic action, and go on the offensive. She must braid time to save friends, and herself, as the gods drive them into situations in which she must choose: braid time, save her friends, and lose pieces of her mortal soul, or become slave to the pantheon of her choice.

Deception by an old friend sends Kylie fleeing to her parents’ home, where she hid her son, Riot. She’s too late, the gods found Riot and hold him hostage. Searching for him, Kylie experiences the most devastating betrayal of all.

Kylie faces her worst nightmare: kill a friend and permanently hide Riot, leaving him motherless, or become a slave in exchange for his safety, leaving her soulless and insane.

If only the gods allowed for personal choice.

Excerpt

The headache started, pounding to the rhythm of my heartbeat. I silently begged to faint, but the power demands payment. There is no credit card or forgiveness for changing the strings of time. It doesn't care I only braided a mere twenty minutes. The ledger must always remain in the black.

“Hey, good looking,” a masculine voice called.

Bloody hell. I glanced around, hoping someone else pulled up and captured the guy's attention. No such luck. The truck and Ferrari remained the only two cars at the pumps. I cursed silently while ignoring him. The earthy smell surrounded me, filled with green things, sun and a summer's breeze.

                “Do you ignore everyone?”

I jumped. I turned to find a tall, muscular, handsome male. Long brown hair streaked with various shades of silver, and a well-trimmed gray beard carted streaks of brunette, giving the impression of a mature man. He wore a black, faded AC/DC t-shirt, shabby blue jeans and black boots. His ice blue eyes caught my attention and held it.

The last one disappeared, leaving Aki to stand in the middle, turning slowly, the image of a grizzly bear superimposed over his form. He fell forward, hands out to catch himself. Blood splashed upwards in a graceful and grotesque arc, covering his upper body and face. He sat on his feet, sword laid carefully over his thighs, chin resting on the massive chest.

“Do not mock me,” his voice low and tight.

“Mocking you? Me? Nooo. I genuinely disdain you and all you stand for.” The threads vibrated, the need to braid becoming almost impossible to resist. The secondary ability rushed to the surface of my skin.

Come on, you big bastard, touch me, I thought.

“Do not doubt that I will hurt you for such disrespect!” Spittle landed on my cheek.

“Can't disrespect what I never respected in the first place. Thought you guys were supposed to have a superior intellect.” My palms began to melt the plastic ties.

Come on, come on, before I lose control.

His hand wrapped around my throat and squeezed. My wrists popped apart and I grabbed his forearm, the power sliding over him as the heat from my palms burned his skin. He jerked, but it was too late.

Interview Questions:

Tell us a little bit about Going Thru Hell.
Going Thru Hell explores parenthood, and the family we create. What would we do? Would we kill? Die? Lip service is one thing, having to actually make the decisions another. I constantly heard, while writing the book and sending pieces to beta readers, “I’d die in an instant for my child.” So would I. But you can bet your sweet bippy I’ll try to find a way for everyone to survive first, I want to watch my kids grow up, explore their world, I want to be there for their triumphs and failures. If the only way for them to survive was my death, take me now. And that is the constant question the MC, Kylie, asks herself.

Where did you get the idea for Going Thru Hell?
As with a lot of the books over the past two years, the spark for the idea came from Wild Horse Loop outside of Rock Springs, WY. We’d head up there, and watch the bands of mustangs for hours. One incident involved an older stallion and a lead mare with her new foal. The band’s stallion died a few days earlier, and the new one was sniffing around. A stallion sometimes kills the very young foals, and the lead mare fought the stallion. She was bleeding, limping, breathing heavy, but not once did she allow that stallion near her foal. Three days later, they found the stallion dead from the wounds, and a new, younger stallion in charge of the band. The foal survived. The lead mare never stopped limping.

What type of research did you have to do for GTH?
Tons of research! Oh my gosh! I had to call a cousin in Hawaii, he’s an astrophysicist, to learn more about the fourth dimension, and if it was feasible. I also contacted an old professor to talk genetics, and then spent months looking for a dragon goddess, and the real mythology of several forgotten gods. My Google history would have likely landed me in the looney bin LOL

What genre is GTH?
Adult Contemporary Fantasy. It was really the only way it would work.

Why did you choose that genre?
I write mostly in the Spec Fic genre, although I have a dark Contemporary Fiction I’m working on. I love playing with mythology, using the old stories, not what is taught today. It’s fun to come up with a new twist to old ideas.

What actors would play the characters in your novel?
Oh! This one is easy! Kylie played by Genevieve Padalecki, Aki played by Anson Mount (so yummy!), Alicia Coppola is definitely Anahita, and I always see Brunhilde played by Emma Stone.

If Going Thru Hell had a theme song, what would it be?
My friend, Joey Francisco, handed over the Kylie’s song: Immortal by Eve and Adam. It is the perfect fit, and of course, now I have every album LOL

How long did it take your to write your novel?
When Kylie took over my imagination, it didn’t take long to get the rough draft out – approximately two weeks to write 66k words. I already knew the story, it was just a matter of typing it.

What is your favorite type of scene to write?
Definitely the action scenes. I used to be a Correctional Officer at a Men’s Maximum Security Unit, and it’s easy to write violence when you had to live through it.

If you could meet one author, dead or alive, who would it be?
Margaret Mitchell. I’ve gone through seven paperback, and one hardback, copies of Gone With The Wind, three VCR tapes (now I’m just dating myself), and two DVDs. She wrote Scarlett, and the entire cast, with such realism. They were flawed, making bad decisions, trusting at the wrong times, trying to survive a horrific moment in American history. She didn’t flinch showing they were human, with all the foibles and strengths inherent in all of us.

When did you decide to become a writer?
I’ve been dabbling for years. But early in 2012 we moved to Wyoming, and the opportunity presented itself to really dig into learning to write properly. I took that opportunity and ran with it.

My Review

I received this book for in exchange for an honest opinion.

I had seen this book on a few blog site and didn't know if I fancied it. When I read the synopsis it stirred my interest. We meet Shay Banes. A comic book artist who just been recognised. Aides and Eli are both clamouring for Shay's attention. Aiden and Eli are both on again off again with Shay, Aiden's trouble is he just keeps getting up and leaving. And since he's been gone this time Shays got stronger in herself. Eli is a great guy too a lawyer, and loves Shay too, but he drinks.

When the comics Shay is writing start coinciding with the murders that are happening in real life. Is Shay the murderer or is it something else.

I loved this book and couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting. It had me constantly guessing and waiting for things to reveal themselves. Bella has done a fantastic job with this book, I'm not loving the cover its ok. But don't judge a book by the cover right? I can't say too much about this book in fear of giving something away. What I will say is you need to read it. I don't usually or haven't read anything like this before and I am so glad I did.

I liked Shay she was outspoken and trusted her instincts. Aiden's a bit of a player I think. I like Eli but he need to get his drinking in order. I loved the pace and style of this book it's grabs you in and doesn't let go. When it finished I was like What? Seriously?

I can't wait to read part 2. Bella I loved this book but seriously the way it ended- I'm constantly guessing now. If I was watching the TV or a movie I would be screaming at the screen.

About the Author

I have been many places and done many amazing things in my life. My moto has always been that you can choose to watch life pass you by or your can be the one spinning the world. You have to get out and live, life won’t come to you!

Writing is just one of my passions that I’m lucky enough to be able to express. I also love music, reading other people’s books, but most of all spending time with my kiddos.

The characters in INK are very near and dear to my heart. Some are very closely fashioned after real people in the real world. Many of the experiences that Shay has had actually happened, of course there haven’t been any murders – oh wait there were but not like in the book. That’s a whole other series!

INK is currently slated to be a 6 book series. I hope that you enjoy INK: Fine Lines and fall in love with Aiden and Eli just like I did!

I grew up in New England where my entire extended family lives, but have lived all over the country. I currently call Atlanta, GA home. There’s a reason they call it HOTlanta – good God!

I love to answer emails, do guest posts and digital signings. Oh who am I kidding I’m pretty much always up for anything! Contact me any time!

Author Interview

Hi Bella, Thank you so much for doing this interview with me, can you
Tell us about you?
Bella: Well I’ve often been called strange and I always take that as a compliment! I presently live in Atlanta with my husband and five awesome kids. I also frequently have some extra teenagers hanging around since I have business class internet. I love to bake, but hate cleaning up and I love telling stories.

What was your inspiration behind writing this book?
Bella: Ironically it stems from a nightmare I had many years ago that stuck with me. I was drawing horrible scenes and they were coming true (in the nightmare). Later I was sitting in the tub shaving my legs and for some reason the words for the first chapter just started spewing out of me. I wrote them down when I got out of the bath and twenty or so years later – we have INK: Fine Lines.

Is There a "Thing" you do to get into the zone for writing?
Bella:  Threaten my family to leave me alone.

Is any part of the book about you?
Bella: In book one there are some scenes that are right out of my real life experiences. There really is, or was a crying tree and that night on the dock was inspired by a real marriage proposal.

Who is your favourite character in the book?
Bella: It changes based on what I’m writing at the time. Right now in Vanishing Point (book 2) Carl is my favorite character. But overall I’m sort of partial to McNab.

What are you reading at the moment?
Bella: I’m lucky enough to be reading an advanced copy of A Risk Worth Taking by Heather Hildenbrand – it’s so good!

Did you read as a child and what was your favourite book?
Bella: No actually I am dyslexic, for a long time they didn’t know what to do with me because they thought that I was somehow learning disabled, but acted smart. Reading was always difficult so I stuck to technical manuals and text books until I got an iPad. For some reason reading on the ereader is so much easier for me and now I devour books!

What can you tell us about the next book?
Bella: Book 2 in the INK series is called Vanishing Point, the title says a lot, we lose a lot of main characters along the way and pick some back up as we go (I love writing paranormal).  McNab takes quite the center stage as does Eli and of course we find out what actually happened at the end of book one. Many people are confused as to what actually happened, that was by design. There is also a new threat introduced into the mix, which is the last thing that Shay needs right now, but I felt she could handle it.

Whats next for you?
Bella: The INK Series is slated to be a 5 or 6 book series. I also have a few novellas in the works, one of which is available for free as I’m writing the rough draft on Wattpad (INK: Sketches).
After the INK series I have a Young Adult series that’s been rattling around in my brain. We’ll see what comes of it.

Fun Questions

Favourite colour? Purple, no red, no black. Black, definitely black.

Favourite TV show? I’m really enjoying Walking Dead.

Favourite type of book to read? Paranormal and YA.

What is your pet hate? Stupid/rude people. The kind of people that just need hit with a shovel in the face.

Favourite food? All of it! No seriously I have a thing for good bread and cheese. It doesn’t have to be fancy just good.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?
I finally visit Ireland. I’ve been all over the world, but I’ve never been to my parents’ home and I would like to go one day.

About the Author

Once upon a time ... N.M. Silber was a criminal defense attorney who got up each morning, donned her power suit and sensible pumps, downed a gallon of coffee and set out to "fight the good fight" while trying to not go insane. Having a dark sense of humor and a sarcastic wit helped -- a lot. Another thing that helped was reading. As escapism was the goal, she liked to read romance novels, especially really funny ones and really sexy ones. Then one day something beautiful happened -- she read one that was both funny and sexy at the same time. She hung up her power suit, put away her sensible pumps and moved her coffee mug to her computer. Now she writes funny and smutty romance novels herself and she lives happily ever after.

My Review

An Amazing Debut Book - Fantastic read

Cricket moves to be near her friend Chelle. She's trying to get away from her old life and start new. After taking a wrong turn while driving she get knocks down a mail box and gets the car stuck in the mud up a beaten path. A  man come to help get her out, after he gets the car out the mud, she drives off as she panic's thinking he could be a killer or something. She heads to the nearest ranger station and explains to them. They know the guy, it's Lil Samson Jyme- a native American, he's no killer.

Later on Jyme gets her number from the ranger station and calls but she hangs up on him so he calls the next day. They eventually meet up and take things from there. She's not looking for a relationship and has started a new job. He's a gentleman. But the attraction is strong.

Can they both over come the past, and the obstacles that are in their way? They are both hiding secrets and it could threaten everything they are trying to build.

OK girls, this is a MUST read. This book is an amazing Debut book by Phoenix Rayne. It needs to go to the top of your "TBR" list. This is a book featuring a real size woman, at the beginning I laughed so hard at some of the comments Cricket makes about herself, as it was something I would say.

I loved this book, like seriously loved it. It was amazing. I read it in one go. I loved everything about this book. You guys know I don't do spoilers and this one is no different. I cant say too much without giving this book away. All I will say is wow. This had me on the edge of my seat. Phoenix Rayne is an Author to watch out for. I loved Cricket I don't think we've heard all of her story and Jyme really never seen that coming. I loved his mum Mrs JJ.

When it got to the end of the book I gasped very loud. I cant wait for book 2. This one pulls at your emotions.

I would give this 5/5 stars and 5/5 for movie moments

About the Author

I am a history maker....I am the very first author to be published
in G Street Chronicles Romance Division. I will do my very best to make all of my lovers of a gripping Romance satisfied.
My parents planned for me, conceived me, and then birthed me. After that, things got much more boring. I didn’t do much, but I did do some things. I lived more and did more things. Then I found that I’m only happy when I write. So now, I mostly write and am, therefore, happy.

Author Interview

Tell us about you?
I love to read and write, If I'm not reading then I am probably writing.  I'm single because I'm constantly cheating on my real life boyfriend with my book boyfriends.

What was your inspiration behind writing this Debut book?
I lived in Washington State for 4 years and I loved it while I was there.  I was so intrigued by the Native American Reservations and their culture.  I met A LOT of HOT Natives and quickly learned how hard they love.  All the guys that I met and spoke with were extremely passionate about life and love.  It gave me chills and that where I mustard up this story.

Is There a "Thing" you do to get into the zone for writing?
Not really, It sort of hits me like a ton of brinks.  Now when I am in that so called zone, I shut my phone and T.V. off.  I like soft music playing in the back ground and that's about it.  OH I almost forgot, and a nice bottle of wine, or maybe a few....

Is any part of the book about you?
Not to give anything away. My fav part is when Cricket finds out about Jymes family trait.  I had a really hard time keeping it together on that one.

Who is your favorite character in the book?
Oh this is tough it's like picking a favorite child.....uhmmmmm It's in between Mrs. JJ and D'Artagnan.  I love both of those characters and I bring them out more in the next two books.

What are you reading at the moment?
Oh goodness I'm currently reading 3 books right now.  One of my besties introduced me to The Mortal Instruments.  I know I'm super late reading them but I love them so far.  I'm also reading The Spectacular Now, I loved the movie and I started the books afterwards.  My Third book is Real by Katy Evans, I'm almost finished with it and my goodness it's good.

Did you read as a child and what was your favorite book?
YES, my parents could'nt get my nose out of books.  I loved the classics when I was growing up.  Anything by Jane Austen and The Bronte Sisters. Pride and Prejudice is my ALL TIME FAV...

What Can you tell us about the next book?
Well I can say it's a gripping love story, It's unscripted, unrehearsed and very raw.  If you are in the mood for a book that holds no bars, and will cut you to the core, The From Love to Loathe Series is for you.

Whats next for you?
Well I got a call yesterday from my publishers to do Anthology with a few other Authors. I agreed and it should be out by the holidays.  I signed 13 of my already written books with my Publishing Company.  Those will be sprinkled out during 2014.  I have a Fantasy Love Story for Valentines Day, A Ghost Romance for the Hot summer, and the rest are twisted up Love Stories.
