Excerpt
She sniffs and wipes her nose with the tissue, finally looking me in the eye for the first time. Instead of the anger that was there a few hours ago, her eyes are filled with utter sadness.
“Michael, I honestly don’t know what to say to you. I’ve missed you and I’m pissed at you and I’m so fucking relieved to see you. I’ve been so worried about you, wondering if you were ever going to come back to us. Did you ever think about us? About Kate? About me?”
“Every single day, Jess, and every single night. I just wasn’t ready to face her, or you. How do you single handedly shatter your very own existence and then come back and try to piece it back together? When I destroyed my life I broke her trust, I broke your trust, and I don’t know if I can ever get it back. But it’s the one thing I want more than anything in this world.”
“He loves her, Mike, with his whole heart.”
Her voice catches when she says that, almost like it tears her up to have to tell me. I understand the feeling completely because my voice probably sounds the same when I answer her.
“I know he does. Does she love him?” I ask the question that I never want to know the answer to.
My Review
If you haven't already read Breaking Kate, you need to read that one first before reading Catching Kate.
Catching Kate is told from Michaels point of view. Its his story of him and Katherine. It doesn't cross over with Breaking Kate until the end and then its only fleeting. Some things may seem the same but they are completely different because they ate told from Michaels point of view. It explains why things happened the way it did between him and Katherine and what he did in the years following their break up.
When I first read Breaking Kate. It was an amazing books I couldn't wait to read the next one. And Dee Kelly didn't disappoint.
It would of been so easy for Dee to continually overlap the story of Catching Kate with Breaking Kate. But she doesn't do that, this is a completely different story. I loved it.
I love the characters in this story. After reading Breaking Kate I was definitely on team Daniel and thought Michael had a nerve for turning up. BUT after reading Catching Kate, I don't know I feel sorry for Michael. They were victims of circumstance. So I think I'm going with Team Kate. I really don't know which way this will go.
Dee has done an absolutely fantastic job with this plot, it flows effortlessly. The character and plot is so real you can imagine this in real life, which way would you choose.
So Team Daniel or Team Michael you decide, but ladies these books contain hot men.
Dee, This is amazing, fantastic and beautifully written.
I give this 5/5 stars.
