Debut Book - A Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest
Synopsis
On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.
A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.
She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine.
An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.
Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.
Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.
Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks.
My Review
I am a big fan of vampire books. And the one thing I usually like is that no matter the author the vampires stories are roughly all the same, with the way the vampires act, not with this one.
I was hooked from the first page and read in one sitting, couldn't put it down, I sat in bed in the dark reading and was gutted when I got to the end. So I had to download the next one- its been a long night.
I loved Sofia and Derek's Story.
I loved the difference from other vampire stories, the way they were Abducting the humans and taking them to the Shade. I hated Lucas. and don't think I'll like Derek's father although I've not read about him yet just little remarks. From the start I couldn't predict where the story would go - it wasn't obvious.
I think the pace was just right. The descriptions were really good I could imagine the scenes and settings everything was vivid. There was a few movie moments in there for me( were the pace gets a bit too much and you have to go for a walk or three, or you just look at the book thinking the suspense is going to kill you)
I loved Vivienne and Cora. I loved the instant attraction between Sofia and Derek even if its taking her a while to realise. I'm not going to give any spoilers it will ruin it. I love that this book gave both points of view.
If you like vampires you need to read this, but stick a DO NOT DISTURB SIGN ON THE DOOR.
Debut Book
This is a debut book by Bella Forrest and what a Debut book to come out with. I think sometimes the danger of a first time author is it will go unnoticed and sets president for the following books. This not the case with Bella's first book. Its sets itself out from all the other vampire books and gives the reader a different angle. I LOVED this debut book. I am now a big fan of Bella's Books. Thank you Bella for giving us an amazing read.
About the Author
I guess my life as a writer started when I was five; I'd sit under the kitchen table with my box of multi-coloured wax crayons (I miss those) and create picture books. Creative writing was always my favourite subject and I used any free time I had to sit down with a notepad. Not much has changed, except that now I have developed vampirish habits: my writing "day" typically starts at 1am.
I'm an avid reader, a big fan of cookie ice cream and I'm often travelling. When working I have to disconnect the internet for fear of being endlessly distracted by websites such as www.icanhas.cheezburger.com . Oh, and unlike the beautiful girl on my cover, I'm camera-shy...
