25328368

Synopsis

When I was eleven, my best friend died in a car accident. When I was twelve, my mom walked out, leaving only a note to say goodbye. When I was eighteen, I was forced into witness protection.

My new name is Shyanne Adams. To protect myself, and painless existence, I do not live. I do not laugh. I do not love. For the last three years, the only meaningful thing I’ve done is care for the horse I rescued.

But now, at the age of twenty-one, the one person from both my past and present is pushing me to start living. Before I know it, I’m moving in with new friends who make me laugh. And next door is Kade Cross, the guy who wants me to love.

Kade knows that I will complicate his life, but he welcomes the challenge. He sees that I’m broken, but he doesn’t try to fix me. When he knows I’m trying to push him away, he braces for the impact.

What Kade doesn’t know is that I could have to relocate at any time. So I have to decide: is experiencing love for a short time worth the pain of losing it?
This New Adult Romance is an emotional journey through pain and healing as Shyanne decides to start living again, but never forgetting she could lose this life… just like her last one.

My Review

***Debut Book***

I am so excited to share this Debut book with you. I was asked by Deanna if I would review this and from the blurb I was curious.  I have to tell you This debut book is outstanding.

I have to warn you that once you read it you won't want to put it down. I couldn't believe that this was a Debut book. This reads like a seasoned experienced author.

Deanna blew me away with this book. From the first page I was hooked, I couldn't put it down. The story is emotionally, heartbreaking, a story that has you wanting to reach in and stand beside Shyanne. It is a story of hope, and believing in your dreams.

The characters are so well written, you feel like you know them. Each of the characters you can identify with. The story is stunning and flawless. It is EXCEPTIONALLY written. This book is one of the most amazing Debut books I have read. I can't wait for more books by Deanna Eshler.

It is an amazing read and one you will want to read.

I give this 5/5 stars and 5/5 for movie moments

Author Interview

Hi Deanna, Welcome to Purpinkrosesbookcorner.

I have to tell you I have featured a lot of Debut author's But your book blew me away. I loved Shy's story.
Thank you! Every time someone tells me that they loved this story, I can’t stop smiling.

 Tell us about you?
First I am a mom, and wife. My life very literally revolves around what my children, and husband, need. Just like other moms, I spend my day thinking about all the things I need to do to make sure they have what they need. We live on a small farm, where we use to have horses. We currently only have a heard of barn cats. I am a passionate lover of animals, and often get teased because of the lengths I go to help an animal. One example - my sister and I were cleaning out our fire pit when we discovered a litter of baby moles. I mean, brand new, still hairless, baby moles. We had to remove them because we were going to use the fire pit the next day for a fund raiser. So, I drove the tiny hairless creatures, 45 mins to a wild animal rescue. I have also rescued a baby bunny and a bird from the barn cats. Both were injured, and both were also taken to the animal rescue.  One other thing about me is my fear of spiders. Living on a farm, this is an issue. I have my exterminator on speed dial. This is not an exaggeration.  I know, I’ve got issues.

Your Author Bio is really impressive, What made you decide to swap paths and start writing?
I quit my job two years ago because the stress was too much on my family. Having a directors position at a foster care agency, was incredibly stressful, but add that to my husband’s extensive work schedule, and it just wasn’t worth it. The first year I was a stay at home mom I got things done around the house, and did things with my kids, that I’d never had time to do. And, I read books… a lot of books. My sister and I would compare our thoughts on a book and I realized that I was learning what I liked and didn’t like about author’s writing styles, not just the stories. I decided to try and write and outline for a book. I told no one, not even my husband. Six months later, I had over 90k words, and what I thought was a story others might like. I submitted it for beta readers and I got very positive feedback. So, I decided to have it edited and it just went from there.

Where did the  inspiration to Write Shy's story come from?
Shy’s story of trauma, and placement into witness protection, formed naturally through the writing process. The only piece I started with was the plan to have her find healing through the horses. I’ve seen horses change peoples lives, and I wanted to share that with readers.

They say an Author sometimes puts herself or people they know into a book, is the book based on anyone you know?
Yes, but I’ll keep that secret to myself :)

Who was your favorite Character and why? I have to tell you my favourite Character was Shy, i thing we can all learn a lot from her, it goes to show that everyone is deserving of a better future.
While writing Shy’s story, Keegan was my favorite. I love her lack of concern for what other people think of her. However, since I’ve been writing Keegan and Adrian’s story, I’ve fallen completely in love with Adrian :)

What can we expect next?
Keegan and Adrian’s story - Our Kinda Love - My goal is to release it this fall.

Do you have a "Thing" you do to get you in the mood for writing?
I drive. I do my best thinking in my car. If I’m stuck on a scene, or need to sort out a timeline, I go for a drive.

What book are you reading at the moment?
Deep by Kylie Scott. I love the boys from Stage Dive :)

What was your favourite book as a child?
The Fox and The Hound

Fun Questions

Favourite TV Show ? Grey’s anatomy and Sons of Anarchy

Person you inspire to be like ? My mom.

Favourite food? Pizza. I know it’s a cliche, but it’s the truth. I could eat it for every meal.

Pet Hate? I love animals, so I don’t think I dislike any pets, but I have a very irrational fear of spiders. I mean, like panic attack kind of fear.
Omg, I have that phobia too. I have a certain routine every night before i go to bed. if my husband ever goes to bed before me  i have to wak him up to check the bed. So we make sure I go first ha.

Most Embarrassing moment? In the sixth grade I used to walk to school with the boy who lived a few houses down, and a girl who lived across the street. The boy and I were standing on her porch, waiting for her, when her dad opened the door. The wind blew it hard against me and I went flying across off the porch. I wearing a skirt. The boy came running down and said “I swear I didn’t look at your underwear.”  I will forever remember that day!

Deanna, thank you so much for doing this interview with me.

About the Author

I'm a Licensed Clinical Counselor, with a masters degree, but I choose not use my degree. In 2013 I quit my job, working with foster kids and families, to stay at home with my 2 kids. That decision is one of my better ones to date.

In addition to my education in counseling, I am certified through EAGALA to provide Equestrian Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP). That training, and subsequent work using horses to help kids heal, is partially where my inspiration for Shy's story began. Watching children, and families, gain insight into their own behaviors through the horses has been an amazing process. I should mention that I'm not currently using this certification either. I like to gather information, training, titles, but I'm not big on utilizing my new skills.

I started reading, for fun, around 2007. I thank Harry Potter for showing me that escaping in a book is the best therapy. Since that time, I have read more than 500 books. This is one thing I have stayed committed to. I prefer audio books, since I can fold clothes and read at the same time, but I usually have a kindle book I'm reading simultaneously.

I decided to write my own novel when I realized there are not enough books in the New Adult genre. This is my favorite genre, thanks to Colleen Hoover and Jamie McGuire. Once I started writing Shy's story, I couldn't have stopped if I wanted to. Sometimes she would wake me in the middle of the night to tell me what the next chapter was about. Writing her story, as well as her horse's-Walker, was an emotional adventure. I hope you enjoy reading her story, as much as I enjoyed writing it.
